House Painting Sydney

We need a few different skills when painting different areas of the wall. Corners are a particular challenge.

Concave Corner Painting

There are concave corners in every room. Think of the inside corners of a box. When walls meet ceilings there are concave corners, though these usually have some molding/cornicing. Where walls meet other walls there is usually a 90 degree concave corner.

A concave corner cannot be painted with a roller. Usually they are painted with a medium/small brush. This is often fine if the texture of the corner paint matches the rest of the room. But if the main wall paint is textured by the roller then the corner tend to look different. Of if the paintbrush in the corner area leaves brush marks.

One option for concave corners is a paint edger. This is a small flat tool that allows you to paint one wall edge without painting the adjacent edge. This is especially useful if the walls are to be different colours.

Convex Corner Painting

Sometimes two walls in a room meet at a convex angle. Thin of the outside edge of a box. Painting this is not too different to painting a flat wall, except if the edge is too sharp.

Paint will not hold well to a very sharp edge. But it is not too difficult to round the edge slightly, and achieve better results. Be sure to do this before painting, and make sure to clean away the material that was sanded away, as this could ruin paint.
